Today I feel I need to speak out. As a 51 white woman that grew up in small-town KS, I rarely had interraction with people of color. I did not understand the racial tensions of the 70s. As I matured and my education continued, only then did I realize the terrible treatment that white people had toward Black people. Now, living here, I am ashamed of the racial strife. Often-times, I ask myself, what COULD have I done to make a difference. From today on, it's what CAN i do to make a difference.
