The Wisconsin Humane Society (WHS) is hiring a full-time Facility Maintenance Specialist to join our team. This is a first shift Monday through Friday role with only occasional weekend shifts. The Facility Maintenance Specialist reports to the Facilities Manager and is based out of the Milwaukee Campus, with occasional travel to other WHS locations. Key accountabilities:
Repairs to animal enclosures, displays, and general facility materials as needed
Preventative care to heating and cooling system
Basic troubleshooting and problem solving of technical systems
Floor care, including use of auto scrubbers and burnishers
Basic electrical and plumbing repairs
Maintaining proper inventory for cleaning supplies and equipment
Patching and painting drywall
Grounds upkeep to include grass cutting, trimming, weeding, and snow and ice removal
Set up and take down for WHS programs and events
Working with contractors and vendors for building maintenance repairs and ordering supplies
Any other tasks as assigned by the Facilities Manager
Qualifications:
Previous maintenance or similar experience required; experience in a high traffic, commercial facility preferred
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, teamwork, flexibility and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Able to successfully meet the physical demands of the job, which include stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, standing, walking, pulling, lifting, grasping, and repetitive motions. Must be able to routinely lift and safely carry up to 50 pounds
A valid and current driver's license is required, as this position does occasionally travel between our locations

Ability to navigate emotional aspects of animal welfare work
Hiring range: $17.41-$21.76
