On a PC running Windows there are several software choices available. If you have an older PC available that you can use or can put back into use then you can use the dedicated Nikon software that was written for Nikon scanners, the software is easy to use with a small learning curve. I have the scanner operating on a PC using Windows XP utilizing Nikon Scan 4, Version. 4.0.2 scanning software available for free from the Nikon website. I also use the scanner on a Windows 10 machine using VueScan X64 software which gives you control of your scanner and the negative scans. The VueScan X64 is a download and costs about $130 to purchase and works via the firewire card.
You could also use this scanner on a MAC OS but I have no experience with this operating system.
Included with this scanner is:
The MA-20 mounted slide adapter.
The Nikon FH-3 Film Strip Adapter to handle up to a 5 frame piece of 35MM film.
A StarTech 3 port low profile PCI 1394a Firewire card (New never used in the box)
One tested firewire cable.
If you are interested in a higher end small footprint film scanner and have more questions please reach out to me and I will try to answer your questions provided they are legitimate.
This Nikon CoolScan 4000 and the included film carriers is available out of my extensive collection of camera and darkroom equipment.
For an additional charge, I have several Window's based PC's available already loaded with the Nikon scanning software and the necessary card and drivers installed to make starting a scanning project as simple as I can make it.
I take care with the description of the equipment that I put up for sale and am careful to be as accurate as I can be with the listing information. This scanner, although robust in design and in operational condition, due to the digital age is now an unsupported piece of imaging hardware and you should have a basic knowledge of hardware and software interaction operation. I will try to help out with information but my expectations would be that you should be self reliant also. This scanner can be demonstrated to you prior to you purchasing it and when this leaves here I then have no control of how it is installed or used. With that being said, this scanner is being sold in “AS IS” condition with no warranty expressed or implied and the sale will be final, the sale is a cash sale only.
If this posting is active then the equipment is available.
