This is a lovely German violin with a mellow tone that bears the label “Georg Kloz Mittenwald”. It has been appraised as being of probable Mittenwald origin circa 1870-1880 and valued at $500. The violin has been re-varnished over repairs to the scroll top and back. The owner played semi-professionally for 20+ years and has kept it in very good condition (no issues), but the strings are old and need to be replaced. This is a good violin for an intermediate student who needs to upgrade from a beginner’s instrument.
It is being offered for sale with a bow made of Pernambuco wood with a round stick and silver mounted frog. The bow is ¼ inch longer and is lighter than most violin bows. Its head has been repaired with an ebony splice and it is appraised at $150. This bow needs to be re-haired.
