This rare but amazingly high performing little mixer from Alesis is exactly what I have come to expect from legacy Alesis products: over-achieving, over-built, and surprisingly world class gear for an amazing price. No one makes small mixers like this anymore -- period. And I will provide FREE SHIPPING on this one!
This hefty brick of a compact mixer makes a similarly-sized Mackie feel like a cardboard box. The MultiMix 8 was originally part of a "podcasting pack" before podcasting was even popular. I tossed the shipping box and accessories but kept this mixer to record crucial vocals, guitars, and drums via condenser and dynamic mics as well as to perform mixdowns via submixed/stemmed tracks due to Alesis's nice and subtle-sounding featured effects. While FireWire is a connectivity technology of the past, it hardly matters; I almost exclusively used the MultiMix 8 via analog I/O.
If you are looking for a (probably literally) bulletproof little mixer that provides super-good three-band EQ per channel, ample phantom power for four channels with XLR inputs, flexible routable effects, and versatile analog I/O, this is your bargain box! Further, the power supply alone is selling for almost $50 in the replacement market!
I am only selling it because I am not recording much these days, and someone should put this to good use. Don't buy it if you don't want to use it.
