Catalfamo A-model mandolin w/ f-holes.
New. American-made.
Built in 2022 by now retired professionally-trained luthier Carlo Catalfamo.
Dave Grisman owns one of Carlo's mandolins.
Case included.
Was revoiced and has a sweet treble and solid chop. Sound production is far better than anything made in China.
Definitely a player - cosmetics less than ideal.
thin 4" crack in lower back - has been glued and is stable. No future problems, my luthier reports.
Price lowered accordingly.
Short scale like the vintage Gibson A models.
Parallel bracing.
Adirondack spruce top.
Curly maple back & sides.
3 piece carbon reinforced maple neck.
Soft "V" neck.
Padouk fretboard with larger fret wire which have been leveled and finished.
Padouk peghead overlay.
(Padouk wood is as hard and durable as Ebony but has a lovelier color.)
1-1/8 bone nut.
Ebony bridge.
Gold Schaller tuners.
StewMac relic nickel tailpiece
Thin shellac finish.
Comes with ebony armrest with gold hardware, bison leather mandolin strap.
This mandolin has been re-voiced by my luthier to improve overall sound quality. Better than Chinese products like Eastman or Kentucky.
