A very rare wood telephone booth from the 1950’s? era. This is an indoor model that you would see in the lobby of some commercial building, or store. Plug the phone booth in, and as you close the bi-fold doors, the interior light comes on. The pay phone is from the GTE Automatic Electric Company. The phone I.D. plate shows a stamped code: LPC 82 55, leading me to believe that this might be the model year of 1955? The phone itself features a 3-slot coin mechanism, and even comes with the original key! The instructions on the pay phone shows that it will take 2 nickels to make a phone call initially. The booth interior features a wood shelf below the phone, and a wood seat. The inside features a stamped tin lining, over pressboard. The outside of the booth has a ringer to let you know that there is an in-coming call when no one is inside the booth. The booth measures 30” x 30” x 7’ tall.
(A previous owner might have been a high-end auto repair garage of some sort, as there are many car show badges, featuring expensive European and US automobiles). This is a rare real time capsule that is complete! $2,600.
