MELODY (Comix Autobiography of a Nude Dancer)
Promotional Poster
Signed by Artist Jacques Boivin
(1990)
The underground comic series MELODY was a delicious autobiographical story on several levels. Canadian stripper Sylvie Rancourt began self-publishing mini-comics for her customers when cartoonist Jacques Boivin discovered them. Though the art was less than professional, the stories were great and he was intrigued. Encouraged by publisher Denis Kitchen, the two began a collaboration on Sylvie's fascinating life story: an inside look at the frequently sordid business of strip clubs as well as an insight into the times, her personal relationships, strong feminist feelings and sharp business instincts.
In 1990, well into the series, Kitchen Sink Press issued this promotional poster for comics shops, featuring excerpts from the story, the cover to Melody #10 and quotes from reviewers such as Heidi MacDonald.
Poster is 11 x 17 inches, two colors, on a card stock with a high gloss UV surface.
Very Good Condition.
