A Raleigh Rapide 10 speed road bike found while sorting and cleaning my father's belongings after he passed. Must sell for mom & us; need to get out of paying for very full storage units while respecting his memory. As found with a moderate cleaning. Intended for a collector but still functions as a bicycle should.
Condition marked as, "Good"; considering age and overall preserved appearance, there is a degree of detriment from usage and time - ie: speckled rust on pedals and chromed surfaces (pictured; rims, crank, seat post...), general usage scratches, through the Metallic Brown paint, scrapping on the down tube (pictured; lower, topside, below Raleigh decal), and underside of bottom bracket (pictured), it's condition is closer to, good/fair. A more qualified, thorough servicing might be required but currently operates like a bike should - the old chain appears rust free but a little loose, the Suntour shifter and derailleurs still move nicely through the gears, crank rotates freely, rims don't appear to have much wobble or restriction, spokes appear mostly taught, brakes operate but could be stronger, head set feels solid/no play, the Raleigh tires take air to recommended pressure but slowly deflate over 24 hours.
Measured as a 51 cm/ 20 in. (seat tube top to center of crank/bottom bracket). Tires and rims marked as 27 inch (pictured). Uncertain if the seat has a covering or is a completely separate unit. I'm not very familiar with bicycle identification; If the serial number follows Raleigh's format and considering the Milwaukee registration date, the bike could have been manufactured in the 70s or possibly early 80s.
It's usage history is mostly unknown to me, other than remembering it as my Grandfather's stationary bike. I was very young and only saw it incorporated with a roller stand (pictured, separate) inside his home. Not certain how much outside use it got but imagine it did. I believe it is the roller stand's mounting hook that caused the down tube and bottom bracket scrapping. If interested, the Y-Cycle stand is available.
Asking $70. Thank you for your interest.
