This 1927 LANE CEDAR CHEST has been in my family from grandmother to my mother to me, the eldest daughter, for nearly 100 years. You can see it’s very ornamental with carvings and embellishments on the outside – beautiful legs and feet.
This chest is made back, bottom and front ends of specialty treated aromatic red cedar Juniperus Virginiana and 5 ply top to minimize warping and prevent leakage of the strength and aroma. The exterior is made with genuine walnut veneer on the outside and the condition is excellent.
THE DIMENSIONS ARE: From left to right the front is 47.75 inches long, 20 inches from front to back wide, and 24 inches tall.
Unlike the low-quality furniture made today, this is a REALLY HIGH-QUALITY heirloom piece of furniture made in the USA by craftsmen nearly 100 years ago making it very difficult to find today. Lane made this model with precision construction and highly decorated – Lane stopped making fancy decorated chests like this after the 1930’s which is when cedar chests were made in the much plainer chest look.
I am moving out of state, so I am unable to take it with me, I kept my wedding dress along with some of my son’s keep-sake toys along with anything I wanted to preserve. This chest was in a smoke-free & climate-controlled home.
