This is a very nice free standing professionally fabricated wall lamp phone so you do not need to mount it to a wall. It even has some old antique batteries on the inside of it. It does still have the hand clank which turns over the original magneto properly and the bells ring nicely. The shade does not go with this lamp, and I just put it on there to show what it would look like with a shade. The plug-in wire is still working fine but I will leave it up to you if you want to replace that and it is never a bad idea. The on and off switch on the socket still functions fine. These old wall phones are very heavy and can be a pain in the neck to actually mount them on a wall because you need to anchor the phone to some solid wall studs. This is the nicest professionally fabricated table lamp conversions that I have ever seen over many years of playing with Antiques. It stands about 40 inches tall and even has an adjustable harp so that you can set it for the height of the shade that you choose to put on it.
