This listing is for an Early Brutalist Mid Century Sculpture by Curtis Jere. Great Surrealistic Imagery in a Brutalist Style. Sculpture depicts a Boy with a toy sailing boat on top of an anchor, in a Whimsical Mid Century Style.
Most of the bronze Jere sculptures that I have seen have a nice quartz stone base or a block of painted wood under them. This one has an incredible, natural, deeply weathered, stone base that is in its natural form, and has not been cut. It simply has some felt pads on the bottom so that it is nice and stable. I had found this at a Milwaukee area, Doctors estate sale. The family said that dad had added this stone base, and that he called it "cliff-side". It reminded him of family time at their lakefront summer home, and the property had natural stone outcroppings. You will never find another one just like this.
Signed: It does have the C. Jere signature and date on the bronze anchor.
Dimensions Approximate: 15.5” T x 7” D x 8” W including the Base and is very heavy.
Very nice condition,w/ green oxidation patina on the bronze and displays wear overall, adding to the look of the sculpture.
