Nguyen Dinh Chieu is a school for blind children and a center for blind adults. Established in 1985, the center aims to provide vocational training, cultural education, exchange of ideas and organized cultural performance for blind people. There are 120 blind children who come mainly from Hanoi, but the school also receives children from other provinces of Vietnam. Some of the children are really good at playing some kind of musical instrument.
Right before the beginning of the new school year, a group of volunteers will prepare the classrooms for the children. The volunteers will repair windows, doors, tables and will paint the walls. In the free time, the volunteers can play with the children to share their experiences and culture.

Volunteers who love working with wild animals will spend 2-6 weeks on a farm or wildlife refuge, and will be assigned a wide variety of work projects as part of a volunteer team.
Volunteer Work may include:
* Caring for neglected or abandoned baby animals
* Repairing fences and animal enclosures
* Assisting with Tourist Operations & Guest Tours
* Patrol of enclosures and game areas
* Monitoring and collecting data on wild animal populations
* Helping to capture problem animals for relocation
Accommodations and meals are provided. Volunteers will receive specialized training and have access to 24-hour support from our partner agency in Namibia.

The international volunteer project will be held in Kisumu City for 3 weeks. Volunteers will come together to demonstrate the power of voluntary service in meeting critical needs of the local communities. The main objectives of the volunteer project are Vocational training and Orphans and vulnerable children.Volunteer work: The volunteers will be involved in assisting and teaching to community members skills in different areas such as wood work, carpentry, tailoring, weaving, dressmaking, computer, screen printing. The volunteers will be also caring for orphans and vulnerable children through outreach programs and counseling.The group will work 5 hours in the morning and 3 hours in the afternoon, Monday through Friday. Sometimes, depending on the nature of work, the time can be extended. Visits: • Lake Victoria • Sondu Miriu Hydro Power Project • Kit Mikae • Kogelo Village (President Obama's father's home) The visits will be organized during the weekends. Visits will be planned also to local people's homes and other places. Cultural exchange: There will be cultural presentations where all the volunteers will have an opportunity to present their countries and cultures. Volunteers will be free to choose presentation methods like story telling, singing, dancing, drama, speeches, etc. Qualifications: No particular expertise or skills required. Participants should have a positive attitude, be ready to adopt and enjoy simple living conditions, be flexible and patient. However, specialized skills and expertise (such as experience in peer education, counseling, appropriate technology in tailoring, carpentry, printing machines, micro finance) will be used accordingly.

The SOS Children's Village is situated in the centre of Viet Tri City, the capital of Phu Tho Province. There are now about 168 orphans living in 15 family houses under the care of the village mothers and staff.
The orphans come from 5 different provinces in the north of Vietnam.
Volunteers will spend time with the children and help improving their English, organizing games and other activities for them. They will also help redecorating the houses and classrooms, planting vegetable, cleaning the area. International group of volunteers will also join the families to get closer to the children’s life and try to build up wider horizon for the children and encourage them to learn better for brighter future.

Escuela de la Calle is a Guatemalan organization dedicated to improving the lives of destitute children in the southwestern highland city of Quetzaltenango. Formed in October 1993 by three Guatemalan social workers and an American teacher, EDELAC now works with 60 children in three categories: street children, former street children who now live with foster families, and children at risk of becoming homeless. Haro Park Centre is the largest care facility in the West End of Vancouver. It provides independent housing, assisted living and complex care for elders. Haro Park supports the Eden philosophy and is committed to creating a human habitat where life revolves around close and continuing contact with plants, animals, children and youth. Haro Park Centre aims at establishing a homelike environment that emphasizes a quality of life supporting the physical, intellectual, emotional, and spiritual well-being of each person. Volunteers will contribute to the quality of life of the elders by taking part in a multifaceted program involving residents in gardening, art, music activities, walking and just being outside in the summer time. Volunteers would accompany staff and residents on outings allowing the involvement of more residents. Volunteers would be paired with residents for walking and will assist staff with the gardening, art and music programs. Volunteers will accompany residents on trips to the museum, art gallery, parks as well as bus trips for picnics or prearranged tours. Walks or bus trips will be organized to sites for art sessions or gathering items for art at Haro Park Centre such as leaves, flowers, etc. The group will help organize a walking event in which residents compete at different levels – walking category, wheelchair, etc. Volunteers are expected to be creative, flexible, respectful and responsive to the residents’ needs. Location: Haro Park Centre is located in Downtown Vancouver, close to museums, theatre, art gallery, upscale shopping and Stanley park with its beaches and other attractions. Vancouver’s most popular shopping area – the trendy Robson street is just a block away. The centerpiece and green heart of Vancouver is Stanley Park, the city's most famous landmark, and one of the largest parks in any urban centre in North America.
There are wooded trails, open playing fields, secluded lakes, gorgeous gardens, and the Vancouver Aquarium, the largest in Canada. A seawall walkway meanders along the park's perimeter, with beautiful views of the city skyline, the harbour, beaches, and the spectacular North Shore Mountains. Vancouver's fame as one of the most beautiful cities in the world is tied to Stanley Park's popularity. Age requirements: 19-30 years

WHAT: Awesome Experience assisting people with special needs to learn to ride a conventional 2 wheel bike in 1 session per day (approx. 70 min) for 5 days
Do you know someone with special needs who might be interested in learning to ride a 2 wheel bike this summer or would like to volunteer as a bike spotter? The Lose the Training Wheels bike camp is being held June 29th – July 3rd in Milwaukee (Nicolet HS) and July 6th - July 10th in Racine (Union Grove Elementary School). The Down Syndrome Association of WI and the Autism Society of Southeastern WI are asking for your help! This camp was incredibly successful in Milwaukee last year and is open to children with autism, Down syndrome, Cerebral Palsy and other disabilities. Each camp is five days & we are looking for volunteers to donate an hour or two each of the five days for either camp. Each volunteer would be paired up with the same camper throughout the week and can watch their progress. It's a fantastic experience for everyone and a huge impact was made on the lives of the participants, their families and friends last year!

During the summer holidays, the youth council of Feldkirch organizes a big playground for children from 6-12 years old who will create their own town called “KleinFeldkirch”. In this town there will be town's own parliament and institutions like a bakery, a hairdresser, a restaurant, a bank, etc. The international volunteer group will help to run this big playground. It will be an advantage if volunteers have creative or technical skills. Last time “KleinFeldkirch” was a big success; the children had a lot of fun. On average, 150 children per day participated in “KleinFeldkirch”. Volunteers should be ready to lead one of the workshops or institutions on their own and prepare their own ideas. Because of the presence of the children, work can be quite turbulent sometimes. Volunteers should be prepared to work long hours and should like to be around children a lot.
Special requirements: Project language is German! Participants should send a motivation letter in German, which shows their interest in working with kids and what they can contribute to this project.

In Reykjavik you can easily feel the pure energy at the heart of Iceland‘s capital city - whether it springs from the underground boiling thermal energy or radiates from the green scenery surrounding the city. Think of the qualities of a great city - fun, space, clean air, nature, culture - and Reykjavik has them in spades. Reykjavik offers both the features of a modern and innovative society and the marvelous traits of a unique natural landscape. In October you can also see the northern lights glow when the sky is clear in the chilly night.
The population of the Reykjavik Area is about 200,000. Reykjavik is spread across a peninsula offering a panoramic view of the mountains and the Atlantic Ocean from nearly every part of the city. Iceland Airwaves is an annual music event that started out in 1999 as a talent show for foreign record executives. Since then, Airwaves has grown and blossomed and is now an integral part of the cultural life in Reykjavík. The fruits of the festival's labour have been ripening and today many Icelandic artists such as Quarashi, Minus, Sigur Ros, Apparat Organ Quartet, Trabant, Leaves and others have made their way to the international music scene.
Airwaves festival attracts approximately 2.000 people annually from abroad (more than half from the music industry). Visitors come to sample the fresh sounds, or in search of new talents, others seeking inspiration or simply on a quest for adventure on the Arctic Circle.
We will help the organizers of the festival carry out many tasks, such as preparing the venues before and after the concerts, helping with the controls outside of the festival area and assisting guests at the venues’ entrance: for example, we’ll serve them hot drinks while they stand in line in the cold Icelandic night, a gesture that will be greatly appreciated. Those of you with driving license will most likely be asked to pick up some of the international guests at the airport.
Before and after the festival we will help Reykjavik environmental department maintaining the green areas in Reykjavik.
