Be Brilliant. Help Others.

As a non-profit organization focused on patient care and bereavement, we at Horizon Home Care & Hospice are dedicated to finding compassionate and strong individuals or civic organizations who will volunteer their talents and energy to the welfare of our community. The team at Horizon devotes their expertise to comforting and caring for individuals and families during the very challenging process of death. Horizon also focuses on the grieving person by offering resources, counseling and a beautiful walk-in facility. Volunteers will not only learn that there are numerous ways to dedicate time, but that the rewards are truly amazing! Be brilliant. Help Others.

Horizon Home Care & Hospice Volunteer Opportunities

HOSPICE “FRIENDLY VISITOR”
Often, our patients are seeking companionship. If you have the time and are able to commute, visiting with patients could be the opportunity for you. Patients often desire a game of cards, a walk through the neighborhood, baking, or just a simple conversation. Full training is provided.

(GRC) BEREAVEMENT VOLUNTEER
The Grief Resource Center, the only bereavement walk-in facility in Wisconsin, provides a safe haven and resources for those in need of comfort. Volunteers are trained to communicate by corresponding with walk-in guests or over the telephone. The GRC also offers a monthly book club, spiritual reflection, aromatherapy, counseling and much more! Full training is provided.

MEALS-ON-WHEELS
Volunteers pick-up and deliver meals to people who are older, homebound or recovering from illness. Availability requirements: 10:30am-2:00pm, 1-2 days a week. Full training is provided.

FLOWER ARRANGEMENT VOLUNTEER
Horizon is very fortunate to receive flowers every Tuesday from Trader Joe’s. We are looking for individuals to pick up the flowers, bring them to Horizon and arrange bouquets for our patients. The patients are elated to receive such an awesome gift!

HOSPICE OFFICE VOLUNTEER
Spend 2-4 hours a week putting together materials for patients in the Horizon offices.

KNITTING VOLUNTEER
On an individual basis or with a group of friends, offer your thoughts and sincerest wishes or prayers as you create a shawl for a Horizon patient. Receive 25 hours per completed piece.

CRAFT VOLUNTEER
Use your talents to create a valuable care card to show Horizon patients they are loved. Our patients are joyful when they are appreciated with a gift of your beautiful crafts.

SPRING CLEAN TEAM / VOLUNTEER
Gather a team of volunteers for a day of dirty work! Depending on the patient’s requirements, the team will complete yard work, house work or both! It is a day of fun that will certainly bring a fresh feeling during a very trying time.

HOLIDAY CAROL / SPRING SING
If you have musical talent, our patients want to hear it. Gather a group together, practice a performance of song, and hop from home to home with your music. Bring joy! Remind the patients of the beauty of life through your melodies.

For more information or to learn of how you or your organization can be involved, contact Horizon Home Care & Hospice. We appreciate our volunteers!
