Dear Republican Party

I'm writing this to you to let you know that after years of membership, I can no longer consider myself a member. As the years have rolled on, you've become nothing like the party that I identified with, the one I enjoyed defending and voting for. Now, you are a neo-conservative beast. What happened to the Republican party of old? What happened to the Small Government Republican Party? The personal responsibility Republican Party? The party that wanted the government to stay out of the lives of it's citizens and simply be fiscally responsible and keep the country safe; what happened to that party? Now, Republican Party, you are turning spy satellites against your own citizens, pushing for a dangerous and unnecessary National ID Card Program and tapping our phones without warrants. Why has it come to this? Sometimes I wonder if the Republican Party realizes it is slowly turning this country into something out of the novel 1984, if it realizes slowly but surely the Republican-run government here is turning into a totalitarian state. Maybe my old friend, the Republican Party is oblivious to the damage it is causing. Maybe it is doing what it thinks is best for us. But when you destroy everything that makes this country great, in order to defend it, what is left to defend?
So what now, you may ask? Now that you've left your party, surely you'll vote Democrat now right? No my friends, I refuse to vote for the lesser of two evils. I'm off to find the candidate that matches my views and so should you. I don't want my children to grow up in a world without civil liberties.
