SEIU COPE Internship
Location: Milwaukee, Wisconsin

SEIU is seeking an intern to work with the Committee on Political Education (COPE) Team. The COPE team works with Local Unions to support political activism and fundraising programs and improve conditions for working families.
Job Description: Service Employees International Union (SEIU) has an openings for a full-time intern for its COPE program. Position available for the 2009 academic school year.
COPE intern responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Coordinating program logistics
Administrative duties as assigned
Maintain organized database of materials
Compiling training and field reports
Drafting internal and external communications
Support COPE organizers by assisting in development, planning and execution of COPE program
Serve as liaison with Locals about COPE activities
Preparing detailed political reports on the departments field activity for internal use
Tracking and assessing measurable fundraising activity
Coordinating regular communication systems (which includes weekly work plans, bi-weekly reports from Locals, weekly Team calls)
Job Qualifications: We are seeking candidates with an interest in progressive politics and a commitment to workers rights and social change. Successful applicants will have an academic background/coursework in political science, communications, government, or a related field with excellent writing and researching skills. A knowledge of unions and/or non-profits is preferred.
Applicants must:
Have excellent research and writing skills.
Have proficiency in the use of personal computers and software, including Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.
Be able to handle multiple priority projects simultaneously
Be able to analyze data and make sound, logical conclusions.
Compensation: COPE interns will work in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and will receive a stipend. Full-time interns will work a maximum of 35 hours/week; part-time academic year interns will work a maximum of 20hours/week.
