TOEFL Proctor

compensation: $9/hour- test offered a minimum of twice per month


The Test of English as a Foreign Language (or TOEFL, pronounced "toe-full") Proctor is supervised directly by the TOEFL Administrator, and also by the Academic Director and Center Director, or other Center staff as designated. The Proctor has two primary responsibilities:

Assist the TOEFL iBT (internet based training) Test Center Administrator
Oversee security in the testing room

Job Requirements
Assists the Test Center Administrator includes, but is not limited to:
Helps set up test stations
Welcomes test takers
Helps check in test takers
Monitors takers that are waiting to test
Assembles materials or sharpening pencils
Oversees security includes, but is not limited to:
Escorts test takers to their testing station
Watches students for cheating, talking, eating, drinking, or irregularities
Assists students with hardware problems
Maintains quiet in the test room
Reads the iBT binder for information
Locks/unlocks test stations as requested by the Test Center Administrator
Walks throughout the testing room to ensure intact security
Collects notes or prohibited items during the exam
Stays vigilant and quiet so that the test takers are not disturbed
Must take possession and secure personal belongings (including cell phones, calculators, etc.) of all students testing. Students are not allowed to bring anything into the testing room.
If a student wants a snack or water during the break the testers wait while students remove what is needed for the break only
